The 2nd generation Beidou navigation satellites were successfully launched in China

China Beidou satellite navigation system will be officially operated by the end of 2012,will cover the Asia Pacific region. China Satellite Navigation Association,vice chairman and general secretary Miao Qianjun made above claiment during the reporter interview.
Beidou satellite navigation system is China's ongoing research and development, independent operation of the global satellite navigation system. And called the world's
four satellite navigation systems with GPS in USA,GLONASS in Russia,Galileo system in EU.
Since December 27, 2011, BeiDou Satellite Navigation System began to provide continuous pilot positioning services and pilot service to China and the surrounding areas.
Miao Qianjun said that will cover the Asia Pacific region, providing 24-hour non-stop positioning navigation services after the official operation.
Miao also said that at present the world's leading GPS chip manufacturers are eager to enter the Beidou industry.
"We are not worried about the products and services, but mainly chip production,because those companies are too large scale,once get into our market, may result in situation "with star without chip ".However, we also prepare the policy to response, "Miao Qianjun said.
According to the analysis, before the end of the year, China may re-launch several navigation satellites in order to achieve coverage in the Asia-Pacific region. At present, BeiDou satellite navigation system has successfully launched thirteen Beidou navigation satellites.
According to the overall system construction plan, around 2012, Beidou will be the first to cover the Asia-Pacific
region's positioning, navigation and timing and short message service capabilities. Around 2020, the Beidou satellite navigation system with global coverage will be built.
